I'm a major nerd with a pretty nerdy/eclectic blog to match. Most of what I do is reblog, but I have been known to make the occasional original post. Try not to judge me too hard, and we'll probably get along just fine.

Book: The Thrilling Adventure Hour
Authors: Ben Acker & Ben Blacker (Affectionately know to their fans as “The Bens”)
Alright, so it’s really no secret that I’m absolutely in love with The Thrilling Adventure Hour Podcast. I am. Absolutely. Deeply. Madly. In love with the characters of Acker and Blacker’s “New time podcast in the style of Old time radio”. Everyone from the Thinks-himself-dashing Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars to the Ghost-speaking-totally-in-love-with-each-other-and-booze Doyle’s of Beyond Belief are brilliantly written characters that have come through amazing stories.
Now, the graphic novel is obviously based on those characters although not necessarily “Canon” to their live recorded shows. It visits each of the segments and gives the audience a chance to get to see the characters in the way the writers have always envisioned them. But since it’s not canon, many among the fandom still continue to illustrate the characters as they see them, and it’s something that is even encouraged by the writers.
It’s a bit disjointed from most stories or graphic novels as most of these segments have nothing to do with one another even if they occur within the same “universe”. But overall, it’s still an amazing thing for fans of the show, and I would argue it’s even better for someone looking for a way into the show. You can get to know the characters without committing to the  203 episodes that are currently available through iTunes. And you don’t have know anything about the podcast to enjoy the little stories that unfold among the pages of this amazing book.
Oh and I should mention that this book is only possible because of contributions of fans. The Bens had an idea, but no way to fund it. They used kickstarter to raise money and raised enough to even fund a live video recording of their show which they plan on producing for those fans who can’t make a regular live recording of their wildly popular performances at Largo in Los Angeles once a month. I am forever wishing I knew more people that loved this stuff, because it’s absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves story telling, because there’s a bit of everything you could want.
Yeah this turned into a plug for the podcast, but seriously, this book was amazing.

Yo its’ okay if you’re a white girl who likes Uggs and spray tans and pop music and instagramming your Starbucks. Don’t let tumblr make you think for one minute that liking things like that makes you inferior.

Same goes for if you’re a hipster trans mexican/japanese Pizza Underground enthusiast with a hello kitty neck tattoo.

If you’re not hurting anyone, you be you. There’s nothing wrong with that.
